I Like Mike

I'm about a third of the way into a biography of my favourite Prime Minister, Lester B. (Mike) Pearson. It's one of the "Extraordinary Canadians" series edited by John Ralston Saul. And, by the way, let me say how disappointed I was that Lester B. was not voted the Greatest Canadian in that CBC national public vote several years ago. He did waaaaay more for Canada (and the larger world) than Tommy Douglas, who was voted #1!
Anyway, I noticed a strange little factoid in the chronology in the back of the book: Mike is buried in Wakefield, Quebec! Now WHY would such a strongly nationalistic Canadian who did so much to promote Canada domestically and on the world stage be buried in the only province that actually proclaims to want to separate from this same beloved country!? (Okay, okay, I know it's not the whole province that feels this way, but just enough to annoy us on an ongoing basis.)
I am tempted to jump ahead in the book to find out why, but I will wait and let the story unfold. However, in the event that Quebec does separate from Canada one day -- and, really, this is probably as likely as the 35-year old unemployed guy moving out of his mother's basement -- I just have one thing to say: We want Mike back! D'accord?!
