Spring Weeding ... Library-Style

To anyone other than a librarian, Spring weeding conjures up images of getting outside and digging in the soil to prepare it for planting. To library folk it means getting into the stacks and digging through the collection to discard older, rattier books in order to make room for the nice new ones. (Does anyone else get excited over the feel and smell of new books?)

I have been weeding in the 800s area and came across an inspirational little treasure called "Write What You See: 99 Photos to Inspire Writing." Each page (with photo) is an exercise in creative writing. There are accompanying quotes, such as this little ditty from Albert Einstein:

"The gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge."

In case the photo itself doesn't inspire you immediately, there are also several "Ideas for Writing" and even "Possible Key Words" you could use.

If you want to flex your writing muscles, give it a try! It was published in 2009, so it won't be weeded out for a while!
